Similar for weight, health.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A story in this weekend&#8217;s New York Times magazine, headlined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/09\/13\/magazine\/13contagion-t.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Is Happiness Catching?<\/a>, went deeper than 140 characters on the influence of our friends. The story about social scientists Nicholas Christakis and James Fowler says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>By analyzing the Framingham data, Christakis and Fowler say, they have for the first time found some solid basis for a potentially powerful theory in epidemiology: that <strong>good behaviors \u2014 like quitting smoking or staying slender or being happy \u2014 pass from friend to friend almost as if they were contagious viruses<\/strong>. The Framingham participants, the data suggested, influenced one another\u2019s health just by socializing. And <strong>the same was true of bad behaviors \u2014 clusters of friends appeared to \u201cinfect\u201d each other with obesity, unhappiness and smoking<\/strong>. Staying healthy isn\u2019t just a matter of your genes and your diet, it seems. Good health is also a product, in part, of your sheer proximity to other healthy people.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;ve blogged before on the <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.communify.me\/newvinegrowing\/2009\/05\/29\/friends-help-extend-your-life-and-make-life-worth-living\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">health effects of friendship<\/a>. While some scientists quoted in the Times article question the causation of friends influencing each other&#8217;s health, the researchers make some powerful arguments.<br \/>\n<strong>Do you think your health and behaviors are influenced by your friends?
