So even if you\u2019ve already liked my business page, or Coke\u2019s or Justin Bieber\u2019s, there\u2019s a good chance you\u2019re missing what we\u2019re sharing with you.<br \/>\nStill, it\u2019s a huge, free channel to not just share your message but engage your fans in conversation, so it\u2019s worth getting to know.<br \/>\nSo here\u2019s a guest post I wrote last summer for a business-to-business blog for bakeries, on how to get started using Facebook for business.\u00a0 Stirring Up Success is run by Dawn Foods, a manufacturer of bakery ingredients and products and distributor to the bakery industry. Then we built on that with some how-tos for Facebook beginners:<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<h1><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stirringupsuccess.com\/social-media-strategy-facebook\/\">Social Media Strategy \u2013 Facebook<\/a><\/h1>\n<p>Facebook has more than 1 billion active users so odds are good you already have an account with the popular social media site. But are you using it to find high school friends or to help grow your business?<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stirringupsuccess.com\/creating-a-social-media-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Starting with a strategy for your social media<\/a> will help guide you, as I blogged about last month. For example, do you want to use Facebook to talk to existing customers or try to reach new ones, and are you trying to make more sales or help improve customer support?<br \/>\nOnce you have defined your social media goals, here are five tips for using Facebook for business:<br \/>\n<strong>Set up a page \u2013 not a profile, not a group.<\/strong> When you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/create.php\">create your page<\/a>, you can choose from designations including local business or brand. Facebook prohibits businesses from using personal profiles, so if you previously set up a profile instead of a page, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/note.php?note_id=214107091934738\">here\u2019s how to convert it<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Create-a-page-on-Facebook\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stirringupsuccess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Create-a-page-on-Facebook-1024x512.gif\" width=\"614\" height=\"307\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Fill in the \u201cabout\u201d section.<\/strong> So many businesses don\u2019t take advantage of this obvious place to answer visitors\u2019 basic questions about who you are and what you do.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fill in your Facebook page's about section\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stirringupsuccess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Fill-in-your-Facebook-pages-about-section.jpg\" width=\"530\" height=\"358\" \/><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Manage your page\u2019s settings.<\/strong> Click on Edit Page, then Update Info and you can customize the name of your page to something like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NewvineGrowing\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NewvineGrowing<\/a> . You can also set up email notifications when users comment, and get the ability to either post under your business name or as a person.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Name your Facebook page\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stirringupsuccess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Name-your-Facebook-page.jpg\" width=\"508\" height=\"331\" \/><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Facebook page settings\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stirringupsuccess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Facebook-page-settings.jpg\" width=\"609\" height=\"274\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Post a mix of content.<\/strong> Photos pop visually in your fans\u2019 news feed, links can direct your Facebook fans to content on your website or blog, questions let your customers know you care what\u2019s on their minds. Variety lets you see what your visitors respond to, and keeps you from sounding monotonous.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Photos in your Facebook news feed\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stirringupsuccess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Photos-in-your-Facebook-news-feed.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"416\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Experiment with posting at different times and on different days.<\/strong> According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hubspot.com\/the-science-of-timing\/\">social media scientist Dan Zarrella<\/a>, Saturday is the best day to post to Facebook and the best time is noon if you want maximum engagement. That\u2019s on average, though, so it\u2019s important to see if that\u2019s true for your customers.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Science of Timing - Facebook\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stirringupsuccess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Science-of-Timing-Facebook.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"314\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>How will you know if you\u2019re on the right track?<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/pages\/insights\">Facebook Insights<\/a> gives you data on how many people your page has reached each day and what kinds of results each of your individual posts got.
