Thanks to that leftie Dr. Seuss, we have this villian who despises many of the trappings that stress us out the most &#8212; the gifts, the food, the decorations &#8212; and yet the ever-resiliant denizans of Whoville wake up and celebrate anyway.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1304\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1304\" style=\"width: 248px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/biblio\/71-00883929042258-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1304\" title=\"it came without ribbons\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.communify.me\/newvinegrowing\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/it-came-without-ribbons1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1304\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes or bags!<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nAnd the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,<br \/>\nStood puzzling and puzzling: How could it be so?<br \/>\nIt came without ribbons! It came without tags!<br \/>\nIt came without packages, boxes or bags!<br \/>\nAnd he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore.<br \/>\nThen the Grinch thought of something he hadn\u2019t before!<br \/>\nMaybe Christmas, he thought, doesn\u2019t come from a store.<br \/>\nMaybe Christmas\u2026perhaps\u2026means a little bit more!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Imagine you&#8217;re in Whoville. You wake up Christmas morning to find your tree and gifts gone, your refrigerator cleaned out.<br \/>\nWould you still have what mattered? Your family, your friends, whatever it is that makes the holidays special to you?<br \/>\nAs I&#8217;m panicking a bit about not having a single idea of what to get my dad for Christmas, or running around the apartment fussing over details before a holiday party, I like to hold that image in my head. Because really, if I invited friends over and just had takeout pizza and beer, I&#8217;m reasonably sure they&#8217;d still have a good time, and if I didn&#8217;t buy my dad a single thing for Christmas, he&#8217;d still be happy we were visiting.<br \/>\nMaybe you could hum the Grinch song to yourself as you wrap presents to remember that anti-materialist lesson?<br \/>\n[youtube=http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MPBS7dVrE1U]<br \/>\n<strong>What stresses you the most about the holidays?
