Welcome!
This is more of a relocation than a grand opening, but I’m happy to have you stop by Newvine Growing’s new home.
I launched my blog about living life intentionally in 2009. Since then, the digital world has changed so much. Podcasting and short videos are what the cool kids do these days, blogging is considered old fashioned. But I still find it the best way to share my thoughts and to profile people who inspire me.
Yet, I have been thinking that I’d outgrown the free WordPress format I’d been using, even with a few redesigns along the way. The experience isn’t great on a phone, and increasingly the ads were distracting.
Meanwhile, I launched a coaching business. That started as marketing coaching, a part of my marketing consulting practice, then evolved as I got trained by CTI, the largest in-person coach training program. I began to enjoy also coaching people more broadly, on career and life goals, not connected at all to marketing challenges.
It makes sense to offer marketing coaching as part of my marketing consulting website. You can either hire me to create a strategy for you or I can support you while you do that work yourself.
But it felt stapled on to talk about career coaching and life coaching on a website about marketing. While I firmly believe that understanding your values and needs can make you happier and more successful in business, I didn’t think someone who wants to make a career change would logically understand why she’s coming to a site that talks about reaching your ideal customer.
I was ruminating on this challenge — offering two related but actually distinct services — when a friend pointed out that I already have a website that focuses on living life intentionally. Isn’t that what coaching is all about?
Um. Yeah. It is.
I decided I could solve two problems at once:
- Move my blog off the free WordPress platform to a site I pay to host.
- Use the Newvine Growing name and its “living life intentionally” theme as the platform for my coaching business.
Now my blog helps to explain who I am and what I believe in as a coach, but you’re still welcome to come by even if you have no interest in coaching.
I hope to see you around here again soon!
