I’m not the biggest sports fan but I do think sports offers some excellent life lessons.
For example, I’ve always liked the saying “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”
Babe Ruth, considered one of the best baseball players of all time, hit 60 home runs in 1927, breaking his own record as the all-time single-season HR leader. He also led the American League in strike outs in 1918, 1923, 1924, 1927 and 1928, according to Baseball Reference.
And this excellent Nike ad featuring Michael Jordan, pointed out by Kim Curtin’s blog, tells a similar story of an all-star athlete who succeeded by not letting failure stand in his way.

What’s the moral of the story? If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
