{"id":7786,"date":"2017-02-09T12:42:11","date_gmt":"2017-02-09T18:42:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gnof.org\/?p=7786"},"modified":"2017-08-04T09:42:57","modified_gmt":"2017-08-04T14:42:57","slug":"evaluating-the-executive-director-august-30-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.communify.me\/gnof\/evaluating-the-executive-director-august-30-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Evaluating the Executive Director &#8211; August 30, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em>This workshop is currently full, please email Rachel Swan (<a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"mailto:rachel@gnof.org\">rachel@gnof.org<\/a>) to be placed on the notification list should space become available or for a future session.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Greater New Orleans Foundation\u2019s Organizational Effectiveness (OE) Initiative is partnering with the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) to present an Evaluating the Executive Director workshop.<\/p>\n<p>This session is designed for board members, executive directors, and senior staff who are interested in deepening their understanding of nonprofit governance and better aligning the work of the board to heighten board engagement and maximize its impact.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are encouraged to bring their bylaws, governance handbook, and recent board meeting agendas for reference during the series.<\/p>\n<p>In this session, we\u2019ll explore why executive director evaluations are such a critical aspect of board work, and how this practice not only fulfills a governance responsibility, but benefits the executive director, the board, and the staff. Specifically, we\u2019ll cover:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The key elements of an ED evaluation process: the specific performance dimensions to be evaluated, desired results, and the process itself.<\/li>\n<li>We\u2019ll review how to structure the process, an outline of each step, and provide guidance on how to successfully coordinate the work along the way<\/li>\n<li>How to prepare for the evaluation meeting and ensure that it is a satisfying and productive experience.<\/li>\n<li>We\u2019ll also discuss the specific considerations for evaluating new and first time executive directors.<\/li>\n<li>Participants will be provided with evaluation templates to customize for their own unique needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Learning Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand how executive director evaluations fulfill a key governance responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the steps involved in the evaluation process.<\/li>\n<li>Have identified the next steps to create or improve your own practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The session will be held on\u00a0<strong>Wednesday, August 30th\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0<strong>9:00am-12noon<\/strong>\u00a0at the Center for Philanthropy (919 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130). The workshop is free, but registration is required. Irby, Director of LANO North, has been the face of LANO, Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, in Shreveport for the last eleven years, where she has served as Director of the association&#8217;s regional office and chief liaison to nonprofits in need of organizational development and training.\u00a0 This past summer she and her husband moved to Baton Rouge where she is continuing her work for LANO as the Director of Organizational Development.\u00a0 She has been a consultant and coach for nonprofit\u00a0boards\u00a0all over the state of Louisiana.\u00a0 Her training specialties include\u00a0Board\u00a0Governance, Succession Planning, and an array of Nonprofit Basics.
