{"id":7773,"date":"2017-02-09T12:04:59","date_gmt":"2017-02-09T18:04:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gnof.org\/?p=7773"},"modified":"2017-02-10T10:37:13","modified_gmt":"2017-02-10T16:37:13","slug":"7773-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.communify.me\/gnof\/7773-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Board Recruitment and Succession Planning &#8211; June 28, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Greater New Orleans Foundation\u2019s Organizational Effectiveness (OE) Initiative is partnering with the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) to present a Board Recruitment and Succession Planning workshop.<\/p>\n<p>This session is designed for board members, executive directors, and senior staff who are interested in deepening their understanding of nonprofit governance and better aligning the work of the board to heighten board engagement and maximize its impact.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are encouraged to bring their bylaws, governance handbook, and recent board meeting agendas for reference during the series.<\/p>\n<p>This session will take you through a step by step process to identify your board\u2019s ideal composition, based on the organization\u2019s governance and management support needs, and how to structure your recruitment process. This session will also address how to address board succession through a thoughtful and planned recruitment process. Specifically, we\u2019ll cover:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to identify your recruitment priorities, including preparation for board member transitions<\/li>\n<li>How to use a recruitment matrix tool to organize names of candidates<\/li>\n<li>How to create your recruitment process<\/li>\n<li>Using a toolkit of templates, we\u2019ll review the elements of a recruitment packet<\/li>\n<li>Strategies for identifying potential board candidates and how to lead them through a recruitment process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Learning Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand how to determine your organization\u2019s ideal board composition<\/li>\n<li>Understand how to set recruitment priorities<\/li>\n<li>Learn the steps involved in the recruitment process<\/li>\n<li>Have identified the next steps to create or improve your own process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The session will be held on\u00a0<strong>Wednesday, June 28th<\/strong>\u00a0from\u00a0<strong>9:00am-12noon<\/strong>\u00a0at the Center for Philanthropy (919 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130). Irby, Director of LANO North, has been the face of LANO, Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, in Shreveport for the last eleven years, where she has served as Director of the association&#8217;s regional office and chief liaison to nonprofits in need of organizational development and training.\u00a0 This past summer she and her husband moved to Baton Rouge where she is continuing her work for LANO as the Director of Organizational Development.\u00a0 She has been a consultant and coach for nonprofit\u00a0boards\u00a0all over the state of Louisiana.\u00a0 Her training specialties include\u00a0Board\u00a0Governance, Succession Planning, and an array of Nonprofit Basics.
