Unfortunately, most supervisors haven\u2019t had the benefit of practice and training on how to best lead and manage people. This workshop is geared towards people who are new to supervision and those who seek to renew their leadership style with a model that promotes effective communication, feedback, and goal-setting.<\/p>\n<p>The Greater New Orleans Foundation Organizational Effectiveness initiative is excited to\u00a0host this full-day supervisory training on <strong>Wednesday, March 7, 2016, <\/strong><strong>9:00 am-4:00<\/strong> <strong>pm<\/strong>\u00a0at the Center for Philanthropy, home of the Greater New Orleans Foundation<strong>.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Workshop topics will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic responsibilities of a supervisor<\/li>\n<li>Establishing work plans and goal-setting<\/li>\n<li>Giving constructive and supportive feedback<\/li>\n<li>Professional development planning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, participants will learn how to design and lead effective supervision meetings and how to provide positive and corrective feedback.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This learning opportunity is designed for teams of up to four participants from your organization. <\/strong>Participants must currently supervise staff or will be supervising staff in the near future. We <em>strongly<\/em> recommend that the Executive Director participates as that\u00a0will help to support organizational-wide application of learning (if the ED cannot attend another senior management person like Deputy Director, COO or VP of HR should participate).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fees for the workshop are based on the number of participants: $175 for a team of two and $250 for teams of three or four participants.<\/strong>\u00a0If the ED of your organization is the only supervisor, please email Rachel Swan (<a href=\"mailto:rachel@gnof.org\">rachel@gnof.org<\/a>) to discuss option for participating. Lunch will be provided and attendees will receive a workbook with samples and templates. Registration will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. She is skilled at designing programs and consulting engagements blending highly relevant theory with practical application. Her deep understanding of nonprofits, the challenges facing leaders, and the way that power plays out in organizations enables her to create environments where clients can explore new realities, learn new approaches, and achieve their goals. Marla is an expert trainer, facilitator, content coach and consultant in nonprofit governance, board development, adaptive leadership, atrengths based leadership, leadership development program design, staff\/talent development, performance management, organizational development, andTheory of Change development<\/p>\n<p>While at CompassPoint (2000 to 2017), a leading nonprofit capacity building organization, she led the design and delivery of numerous leadership development cohort programs such as <em>Next Generation Leaders of Color<\/em>, <em>Organizational Sustainability<\/em>, and <em>Strategic Leader Development<\/em>.\u00a0 She co-authored the research reports <em>UnderDeveloped: A National Study of Challenges Facing Nonprofit Fundraising<\/em> (2013), <em>Daring to Lead: A National Study of Nonprofit Executive Leadership<\/em> (2011), and <em>Ready to Lead? Next Generation Leaders Speak Out<\/em> (2008).
