Three Nonprofit Organizations compete for prize money for most innovative idea<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

(August 25, 2016 | New Orleans, LA) The Greater New Orleans Foundation is pleased to announce that\u00a0Lighthouse Louisiana<\/strong>, New Orleans<\/strong> Food & Farm Network, <\/strong>and the YMCA<\/strong> will present their innovative ideas in a public pitch to a panel of judges on Friday, October 7\u00a0at 8:30 am at the New Orleans Museum of Art.<\/p>\n

Pitch It! The Innovation Challenge will fund a novel approach, an innovative product, a new process, or an innovative service that supports a new way of doing business in the nonprofit sector. Top prize is $25,000 with second and third place winners receiving $7,500 and $5,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn an environment of uncertain economic times and shrinking public coffers, we\u2019re turning more and more to nonprofit organizations to tackle our toughest social problems,\u201d said Joann Ricci, vice president of organizational effectiveness at the Greater New Orleans Foundation. \u201cAs demand grows for their services and programs, nonprofits must continuously seek novel solutions to meet community needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now in its fourth year, the Pitch It! The Innovation Challenge is supported by the Kresge Foundation. Previous Pitch It! winners are Caf\u00e9 Reconcile, Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana, and UNITY of Greater New Orleans.<\/p>\n

The winner will be selected by the following panel of judges:<\/p>\n

  • Fred G. Karnas, <\/strong>Senior Fellow, Human Services and Health Program at the Kresge Foundation<\/li>\n
  • Quentin Messer Jr.,<\/strong> President and CEO of the New Orleans Business Alliance<\/li>\n
