To be added to the wait list, please email Mandi Cambre mandi@gnof.org<\/p>\n<p>The Greater New Orleans Foundation Organizational Effectiveness Initiative (OE) and the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools are partnering on a series of Board Governance workshops in New Orleans and the Bayou region.<\/p>\n<p><b>Nonprofit Board Basics<br \/>\n<\/b><i>In partnership with the Bayou Community Foundation<br \/>\n<\/i>Friday, March 27, 2015 at 1:30 pm &#8211; 3:30 pm<br \/>\nNorth Branch of the Terrebonne Parish Library<br \/>\n4130 W. Park Avenue, Gray, LA<\/p>\n<p><b>This workshop is restricted to nonprofits and volunteers in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes and Grand Isle. Registration is required: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1C9WOE8Pf74onA_Bg-t0tV1cbhgi3liUPjskpGyp_7rA\/viewform\" class=\"broken_link\"><b>click here to register<\/b><\/a><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For a nonprofit to succeed, it must have a Board of Directors that is committed to the organization&#8217;s mission, possesses substantial leadership skills and expertise, sets policy that guides the organization\u2019s work, and evaluates both the organization and itself with an eye toward continuous improvement. <b><i>Nonprofit Board Basics<\/i><\/b> will provide a clear, crisp picture of board member responsibilities in policy development, strategic planning, fiduciary duties, fundraising, and oversight functions.<\/p>\n<p>This workshop is designed for executive directors and board members. We strongly encourage organizational teams comprised of the executive director and board members to participate in the workshop together. He is president of the Center for Public Skills Training where he specializes in strategic planning, governing board development, and community partnership and alliance building. Since 1980 over 35,000 professional staff, board and other volunteer leaders have benefited from Frank&#8217;s practical, results-oriented training and consultation.
