New Orleans, LA (October 28, 2020)\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Today, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) announced that it will accept donations to its Disaster Response & Restoration Fund in response to the Emergency Declaration for New Orleans and other parts of Southeast Louisiana ahead of Hurricane Zeta.<\/p>\n

Since March, GNOF has disbursed nearly $4 million in critical grants from the Disaster Response and Restoration Fund to nonprofits responding to challenges ranging from\u00a0the COVID-19 pandemic to Hurricanes Marco, Laura, and Beta,” said Andy Kopplin, President & CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation<\/strong>. “With the support of generous donors and partners, we are positioned to respond to the threat of Hurricane Zeta headed to our region and get resources into the hands of nonprofits working on the frontlines to support our communities when disaster strikes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s Disaster Response & Restoration Fund, we mobilize and support a network of voluntary and community organizations active in disasters (VOADS and COADS) whose expertise is deployed locally, nationally, and internationally. We also honor the tradition of \u201cpaying it forward\u201d by coordinating with a network of community foundations when disaster strikes other communities to get immediate support to the most vulnerable citizens. Our Disaster Response & Restoration Fund provides immediate relief as well as long-term rebuilding support.<\/p>\n

With the capability to get dollars where they are most needed within 48 hours, the Foundation has pre-registered over 20 organizations from across Southeast Louisiana to receive expedited grants should they be active in responding to a disaster.<\/p>\n
