New Orleans, LA<\/strong> \u2013 Today, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) announced round two of its COVID-19 Disaster Response and Restoration Fund grants totaling $188,000.00 to 31 nonprofits. Since the start of this pandemic, GNOF\u2019s Disaster Response and Restoration Fund has awarded $228,000.00 to nonprofits in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany Tangipahoa, and Washington Parishes.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity Foundations are powerful vehicles to do good in people\u2019s lives especially during times of challenge and crisis in a community\u201d,\u00a0said Andy Kopplin, President and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation<\/strong>. \u201cOur staff and donors have great expertise for times such as these and we will continue to do everything we can to execute at a high level and help get needed funds and resources to people and nonprofits who need them the most.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through the Greater New Orleans Foundation Disaster Response and Restoration Fund, we mobilize and support a network of voluntary and community organizations active in disasters (VOADS and COADS) whose expertise is deployed locally, nationally and internationally. We also honor the tradition of \u201cpaying it forward\u201d by coordinating with a network of community foundations when disaster strikes other communities to\u00a0get immediate support to the most vulnerable citizens. Our Response and Restoration Fund provides immediate relief as well as long-term rebuilding support. We plan to support communities throughout our region over the long haul as we recover from the impact COVID-19.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Greater New Orleans Foundation continues to be an essential partner in New Orleans\u2019 most challenging times,\u201d\u00a0said New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell<\/strong>. \u201cThese grants to local nonprofits on the front lines helping our most vulnerable citizens will do good immediately. I applaud GNOF and its donors for leaning forward and providing real and timely support. We are not unfamiliar to hard times, but there has been, and always will be, community resilience that is going to get us through this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJefferson Parish is a strong community because we are there for each other, and our nonprofits are generally leading the way in times of crisis,\u201d said\u00a0Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng<\/strong>. \u201cWe are fortunate to have the Greater New Orleans Foundation and its generous donors investing in nonprofits providing critical support to the most vulnerable in our parish.\u201d<\/p>\n
