{"id":14159,"date":"2022-05-12T10:46:50","date_gmt":"2022-05-12T15:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gnof.org\/?post_type=events&#038;p=14159"},"modified":"2022-05-12T10:57:48","modified_gmt":"2022-05-12T15:57:48","slug":"board-governance-series-building-impactful-and-inclusive-boards-2","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/staging.communify.me\/gnof\/events\/board-governance-series-building-impactful-and-inclusive-boards-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Board Governance Series: Building Impactful and Inclusive Boards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Board Governance Series is for teams of board members, executive directors, and senior staff interested in deepening their understanding of nonprofit governance to heighten diversity, equity, and inclusion, board engagement, and maximize its impact.<\/p>\n<p>The series is divided into five, two-hour sessions on critical governance topics.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The role of the board and board member responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Governance versus management<\/li>\n<li>Board composition, recruitment, and succession planning<\/li>\n<li>Board meetings and committee structure<\/li>\n<li>Financial leadership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/staging.communify.me\/gnof\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Board-Governance-Series_-Fall-2022-Session-Description_Final.pdf\">Click here<\/a> for the full session descriptions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Participation Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Organizational teams of 3-4 consistent participants including the executive director, other senior leaders charged with governance, and a minimum of 2 board members are required to participate in the program. Individual board members not registered for the program may attend a particular session due to interest in the topic. For example, the Treasurer might attend the workshop on finance, but not participate in the other sessions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Before<\/strong> each session, participants will be able to access the self-study packet via an online platform. The packet will include an overview of the session, exercises, and resources in their toolkit. <strong>During<\/strong> the sessions, participants will dive into the self-study packet with peer groups, share insights and ideas, and action plan. <strong>After<\/strong> the series concludes, participants will have access to the series materials for two years.<\/p>\n<p>The online learning platform will allow participants the ability to connect with other nonprofit organizations in the series, to ask questions, or to share resources around certain topics. This platform is like a Facebook group or Blackboard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fee for the series is $450 per organization. We never want funding to prevent participation. We have a small pool of funds available to partially offset the program costs for qualified participants. Organizations will be able to select <strong>one cohort only<\/strong> when registering. The first and last sessions will be held in-person at the Greater New Orleans Foundation, the others will be held virtually.<\/p>\n<p>Cohort A will be held from <strong>10:00 am-12:00 pm<\/strong> and Cohort B will be held from <strong>5:30 pm-7:30 pm<\/strong> on the following dates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuesday, August 30<sup>th <\/sup>(In-person)<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday, September 13<sup>th <\/sup>(Virtual)<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday, October 4<sup>th <\/sup>(Virtual)<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday, November 1<sup>st <\/sup>(Virtual)<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday, November 15<sup>th<\/sup> (In-person)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oeworkshops.kimbia.com\/boardseries22\">Click here to register for the Board Governance Series<\/a>. Space is limited and registration will be accepted on a first come first serve basis until the cohorts are full. The ability to attend all of the sessions and fully participate in the program is required. It is expected that participants will calendar the sessions at the time of registration.
